The future of education in the Somos Futuro project

In an era of rapid technological and social change, education is at a crucial moment of transformation. With the aim of giving a voice to young talent from all over Spain, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services and the Fundación Universidad-Empresa (FUE)have launched the ‘Somos Futuro’ programme. This project seeks to encourage reflection among young people on the main challenges facing our society and how these affect their professional development.

Integration into the European Social Fund: “Somos FP Dual – Red Embajadores”

FUE and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce are considering the possibility of integrating their activities within the European Social Fund, specifically in the “Somos FP Dual – Red Embajadores“programme. This initiative aims to provide young people with information about Dual Vocational Training, a key tool to improve their employability. This is essential both for the future professional development of young people and for the re-entry into the education system of those who left prematurely. The dissemination of this model is possible thanks to the collaboration of young people who have gone through Dual VT and actively participate in its promotion.

Project Description: “Somos Futuro”

Committed to improving youth employment conditions and training as an engine of growth, FUE and the Spanish Chamber will organise “Somos Futuro”. This cycle of events will serve as a meeting point for young talent throughout Spain, promoting reflection and dialogue on crucial issues for the future of society. The events will include discussions on the future of education, entrepreneurship and innovation, artificial intelligence, the future of energy, sustainable living with limited resources, diversity and inclusion, and navigating the digital age with critical awareness.

 

Themes of the Conference

Each day will address a specific topic, allowing participants to delve into areas of particular interest:

Project Objectives

The main objective of “Somos Futuro” is to get closer to young talent, listen to their concerns and agree with them on an optimistic and realistic vision of the future. Through these meetings, work will be done on the creation of solutions for the main problems of today’s society, always with a focus on the professional development of young people. The results of these conferences will be published in the book “Imaginando”, which will include the conclusions of each session. In addition, a report and a video will be published for each day, complemented by a book and a global video that will collect all the sessions.

 

Structure of the Conference

The conferences will be held at the headquarters of the Chambers of Commerce or related Institutes, following a consistent structure:

  • Aperture: Institutional intervention of a representative of the local Chamber.
  • Presentation: Presentation by an expert on the central theme of the day.
  • Round table 1: Discussion between young people and experts on issues related to the theme of the event. On the Seville conference, this table will be replaced by an inspiring presentation.
  • Round table 2: Debate focused on employability, with the participation of young people and experts.
  • Closing: Institutional intervention by a representative of FUE.
  • Coffee – Networking

 

Participation and Organization

The conference has had an average attendance of 99 young people in each event. FUE and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce have collaborated in attracting participants, with the local Chambers convening educational centers involved in Vocational Training. For the organization of each day, the Chambers have had the support of a technical project office, made up of staff from the Chamber of Spain and FUE, thus guaranteeing the success of each event and the active participation of young people.

With this initiative, FUE and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce reaffirm their commitment to youth training and employment, working together to build a more promising future for new generations.
